why resin flower preservation takes time

why flower preservation takes time & why it’s worth the wait!

When you trust me with your wedding bouquet, it’s completely natural to be excited and eager to see the finished piece! Flower preservation is a true labour of love, and because it is a delicate, multi-step process, it isn't something that can be rushed.

Rushing the process can cause flowers to retain moisture, leading to mould and decay over time. In resin work, rushing can also cause the liquid resin to "flash cure" and overheat, damaging your flowers. The ultimate goal is to create a heirloom piece you’ll proudly display forever, rather than something you want to hide away!

Here is a look behind the scenes at why high-quality preservation takes time, and what goes into making your custom floral keepsake.

A One-Woman Passion Project

It’s worth noting that when you work with me, your flowers are in dedicated, individual hands! I don't have a team passing your bouquet from person to person. I personally:

Manage the website and respond to your emails and enquiries

Hand-prepare and dry every single flower

Design, pour, sand, and top-coat your resin pieces

Package your finished preservations and make multiple weekly visits to the post office!

On top of running this small business, I also work a full-time job! A huge portion of my evenings and weekends are spent preserving your gorgeous wedding flowers. If I don't reply to an email instantly, I’m likely submerged in sanding, pouring resin, or carefully prepping the next preservation.

The best perk of a solo resin artist? Your bouquet gets my undivided attention from start to finish. No one will care for or know your preservation piece as well as I do!

The Preservation Timeline

Preserving flowers requires plenty of patience. Before flowers can ever touch resin, they must be completely dry.

The Drying Phase: Depending on the flower variety and thickness, full moisture removal can take several weeks.

The Pouring Phase: Once fully dried, your flowers are put into a preservation queue while they wait for the moulds to free up. As resin curing is a precise science done in layers, mould space and daily creation time are naturally limited.

During the peak summer months (when wedding season is at its absolute busiest) turnaround times naturally longer.

Built on Love, Care, and Patience

I absolutely love being busy and having the privilege of preserving your wedding flowers. I am endlessly grateful for my wonderful clients who respect the time and effort this detailed art form requires.

Handcrafted, organic processes like this simply can't be rushed, but I promise you, the final result is always worth the wait!
