How Many Flowers Should I Send for Preservation?

One of the most common questions I’m asked is how many flowers I recommend sending for preservation, and the honest answer is usually less than you think! Every bouquet is completely unique, and the amount I recommend depends on the keepsakes you’d like preserved.

When preserving flowers in resin, I always dry every flower you send and carefully choose the best flowers to preserve for each piece. Having a few extras gives me more flexibility when designing your preservation and helps ensure your keepsakes look full, balanced, and beautiful.

 

Larger Resin Pieces

For larger preservation pieces such as:

Hearts

Arches

Bookends

I usually recommend sending the whole bouquet where possible, especially if you’d also like additional smaller pieces created from the same flowers.

Larger pieces naturally require more flowers to fill the design beautifully, and having your full bouquet allows me to include a mix of focal flowers, smaller flowers, textures, and greenery throughout your preservation.

 

Smaller Resin Pieces & Frames

For smaller preservations, you don’t usually need to send quite as many flowers.

5x7 & 6x8 Frames

For the popular 5x7 and 6x8 frames, I usually recommend sending around 4–5 stems. If your bouquet contains lots of different flowers, I always suggest sending one of each where possible - it’s such a lovely way to include a little bit of everything from your bouquet.

A4 Frames

For A4 frames, I recommend sending approximately 7–8 stems, or again, one of each flower if you have a varied bouquet.

Coasters & Trinket Dishes

For coasters and trinket dishes, I always recommend sending a couple of extra flowers. I’ll dry everything you send and choose the flowers that preserve best for your final pieces.

For size reference:

A coaster can usually fit one whole rose

A trinket dish can usually fit two roses

These little details can be really helpful when deciding how many flowers to send from your bouquet.

 

Every Flower Is Different

I work with all kinds of flowers and have lots of experience preserving roses, spray roses, lisianthus, ranunculus, gypsophila, carnations, peonies, stocks, sweet peas, delphiniums, and many more.

Every flower dries slightly differently, which is why having extra flowers can be so helpful. Drying all of your flowers allows me to choose the strongest and most suitable flowers to create the best possible finish for your keepsake.

 

Don’t Forget to Add Your Name

One small but very important thing - please remember to include your name or order number somewhere in or on your box.

Some days I can receive multiple flower deliveries at once, and I can’t begin drying them until I know who they belong to.

If you do forget, please don’t panic. Accidents happen! Just send me a message with a description of your flowers and the box they arrived in so I can identify them.
