How Long Does Flower Preservation Actually Take?

When you send your wedding bouquet, it can feel like a waiting game. You might be wondering: “Why does flower preservation take several weeks, or sometimes even months, before my pieces are returned?”

The truth is, high-quality preservation is a labour of love that cannot be rushed. There are a few major factors that determine the turnaround time for your preservation.

 

It's Just Me!

First and foremost, I am just one person preserving each bouquet. I don't have a big team behind the scenes to work on multiple orders at once. Every single step (from carefully drying your flowers to mixing the resin and packing your preservation) is done entirely by my own two hands. Because I pour so much personal care into every order, I can only move as fast as a solo artist can go.

 

The Size & Type of Your Preservation

What your flowers are being preserved in plays a massive role in the timeline:

Resin Blocks (Several Months): Large blocks take the longest because resin must be poured in very thin layers rather than all at once. If it’s poured in one big go, the resin will overheat and won't cure properly, leaving you with an uneven, ruined piece. Each single layer takes 24 to 48 hours to fully cure before the next one can be poured. Once the mould is completely filled, the block still needs to be carefully sanded and top-coated.

Smaller Keepsakes (Several Weeks): Even though smaller items (like date frames and tree decorations) might only need one or two layers of resin, they don't skip the line. They still require the exact same process of sanding, sealing, and top-coating to ensure they look perfect.

 

The "Perfectionist" Standard

I’ll let you in on a secret: I am a total perfectionist! Sometimes a piece needs more than one top coat to get that crystal-clear, glass-like finish. I refuse to send anything to its forever home unless I am 100% happy with it.

Quality takes time, and your memories deserve nothing less than perfection.

 

First Come, First Served

Probably the most common factor affecting the turnaround time is the queue. To give every single bouquet the undivided attention it deserves, I work strictly on a calendar basis. This means that those flowers I receive first, will be started on first. I personally think this is the fairest way to do things! Your pieces are completed in the exact order they arrive, ensuring everyone gets the same dedicated care.

The Bottom Line: Flower preservation is an art form, not a factory process. While it might take a few months to get your finished pieces back, the wait ensures you receive a crystal-clear, durable keepsake that will last a lifetime (I promise it's worth the wait!.
